Demystifying Motivation: The Power of Commitment and Discipline for Men

In a world that often glorifies motivation as the ultimate catalyst for success, it’s time to delve deeper into the myth that surrounds it, especially when it comes to men. While motivation can kickstart our journey towards our goals, it is commitment and discipline that truly sustain the momentum and drive us forward.

As men, we are often conditioned to believe that motivation is the key to unlocking our full potential. We are told that we need to constantly seek external sources of inspiration to fuel our ambitions. However, the truth is that motivation is fleeting – it comes and goes like the tides. To truly achieve and sustain something takes more than just the initial burst of motivation – it often requires the unwavering commitment to our goals and the discipline to show up day after day, even when the initial excitement wears off.

Commitment is the foundation upon which success is built. It is the promise we make to ourselves to stay dedicated to our values and our goals, no matter what obstacles may come our way. It requires resilience, perseverance, and a steadfast belief in our ability to achieve what we set out to do. Without commitment, motivation alone is like a ship without a rudder – drifting aimlessly in a sea of distractions and setbacks.

Discipline, on the other hand, is the bridge that connects our commitment to our actions. It is the daily practice of showing up, putting in the work, and making the necessary sacrifices to move closer to our goals. Discipline is not always glamorous or exciting; it often requires us to do the things we don’t feel like doing, to push through discomfort, and to stay focused on the long-term rewards rather than the short-term gratification.

As men, we are capable of incredible feats when we harness the power of commitment and discipline. Whether it’s in our careers, relationships, health, or personal growth, these qualities are the true markers of our strength and character. So, let us shift our focus from seeking fleeting moments of motivation to cultivating a mindset of unwavering commitment and relentless discipline, guided by our values. Let us embrace the challenges, the setbacks, and the moments of doubt as opportunities to prove our resilience and grow stronger.

In conclusion, the myth of motivation for men is just that – a myth. True success is not built on bursts of inspiration, but on the solid foundation of commitment and discipline. So, let us rise to the challenge, let us embrace the journey, and let us show the world what we are truly capable of when we commit ourselves wholeheartedly to our values and goals and approach them with unwavering discipline, even if the waters are rough and we feel ourselves pulled off course.  Refocusing and getting back on track is all part of discipline.

BPS Report (summary): The nature of hypnosis

I have recently started a Practitioner Diploma in Hypnotherapy, and I intend to incorporate hypnotherapy into my private practice after I qualify.  In the meantime, I intend to publish some posts that discuss the effectiveness and possible mechanisms of hypnosis/hypnotherapy. I’ll start with a synopsis of a comprehensive report by the British Psychological Society (see link below).
